This Blog Has Moved

January 25, 2020 0 Comments
Hi all,

I have now decided to move away from blogger to Wordpress. This decision has been on my mind for some time and ultimately for the best. Blogger is now outdated for my requirements and I hope to expand my posts on the new site.

Over there you will see my recent posts, all which are currently available here still but will not be updated with new content. I also have a really fancy domain which I did have here for some time until it broke on me. This goes back to my recent comment on the outdated Blogger malarkey.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has read my blog and helped me on my journey. It's not the end, only the beginning.

The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

March 03, 2015 2 Comments
Hi, there although I really don't feel great about blogging at the moment I thought I'd try and snap out of it by completing this lovely tag/award to make me feel a little bit better. To get myself back into this blogging malarky I'm jamming out to the Brit Awards Nominations: 2015 playlist on Spotify.

I was nominated by two lovely bloggers Roziebud and petalpoppetblogs

Natalie's Questions

1. If you could fly anywhere now, where would you go?
I think I would go somewhere and anywhere warm, I'm sick of this cold weather although it is brightening and warming up which is always good. Country-wise I would say one of the Canary Islands I'm not fussed on which one.

2. What are you thinking about right now?
One Direction because Ready to Run is playing right now. I feel like that fangirl I was like a year or two a year ago. Woooow they have changed much, they're not the same boyband I came to love. *sniffles*

3. What are you looking forward to most this weekend?
Absolutely nothing, I'm working which is pretty standard. I'm exhausted. Pretty much my hectic life is the reason why I feel unmotivated by anything blogging related. My life is pretty much work, work, business a-level, media a-level, sociology a-level, work, work and repeat in various different orders.

4. Favourite thing to do when you're bored?
Listen to music and pretend to be a good singer. I pretty much mouth the lyrics whilst prancing around the house pretending to be in a music video. Pretty much my life in a nutshell.

5. If you could go back to any point in your life, where would you go?
Year 11, although it was a rubbish year but it had its perks like prom and leaving school, haha.

6. Who inspires you?
Demi Lovato, she's queen and WCW forever.

7. What blogs are you currently loving?
I've stayed away from blogging so I don't know right now, ask me in a week and I'll shoot you a whole list a mile long.

8. Whose your crush?
Aren't we meant to keep them secret?;)

9. Favourite Yankee Candle scent?
Yankee Candles are too expensive and plus I'm not great when it comes to flames and fire. I think the cherry one smells unreal though but you've got to have a acquired nose for it. Sometimes the scent is overwhelming and hurt my nose but it's lovely.

10. What quote represents you best?

1. What do you like best about blogging?
The freedom from the real world, being able to express things you'd never have the courage to say in real life.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would that place be and why?
I think I go to Ireland, I don't know why really. I just like the accent if that can be a justified answer?

3. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
Pretty much everything. For starters my messed up sleeping. I'm a night owl not a morning person so I'd quite like mornings to calmer not so much rushing like a headless chicken.

4. List 3 things that you are proud of doing / having done.
  • Getting good mid-term grades (A, C, C) ;)
  • Surviving school.
  • Becoming more blunt and telling it how it is. People should know when something wrong and out of order instead of brushing faults under the carpet.
5. What was your favourite subject at school, and why did it appeal so much?
I think it was media at secondary I had a fab teacher and got my best GCSE grade in it. :D

6. Is there anything you wouldn't do for a million pounds?
Here's a list
  • Anything like I'm A Celeb and vermin related - Insects, Reptiles, Birds, Fish, Rats and there might be some more I can't bothered to type.
  • Anything involving taking my clothes off, I will not objectify/sexualise myself. I'd quite like to keep a sense of dignity.
  • Swim in a sewers. I recall this one from a year 4/5 trip to the sewers plant. And I literally said this.
7. What is your favourite childhood memory?
Drinking bubble mixture and when I spoke bubble came out. Such a 'You've been framed' moment. Should have got myself £250. The good old 1999. I was 2/3 years old, it wasn't last week.

8. Who is your favourite character in a novel or film and why do you like them so much?
Tracy Beaker because her character is influential and plus she's cheeky which is a bonus.

9. What is your greatest ambition in life?
To do well not just getting by.

10. What is the biggest compliment you have ever had?
My overall confidence being able to compliment myself for self-assurance.

My questions
I tag all my favourite bloggers (that's you).
1) What cheers you up when you're down?
2) What can't you live without?
3) If you could have any super power which super power would you have?
4) What is your most worn item of clothing?
5) What was your favourite website as a child?
6) Do/Did you collect anything unusual?
7) What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
8.) What comes first to you?
9) Have you had any invaluable advice, if so what was it?
10) What movies of 2015 are you looking forward to?

Dealing with spots.

December 23, 2014 4 Comments
Anything not perfect is a teenage girls disaster. In the mind you think of greasy headed burger flipper who is very unhygienic as portrayed in shows like The Simpsons. That's where it's wrong. Acne can happen to anyone whether they are clean or not. Having acne for several years I have a few tips on how to get clearer skin over time.

1) Don't wash your face with all different cleansers, toners and scrubs as they irritate acne which makes its a lot worse. Yes, it gets rid of dead skin cells, excess oil and dirt but the ingredients dry the skin out and your skin must be moisturised. I recommend if you like using products likes cleansers, toners and scrubs, don't buy the stores own brand since they use cheap products and sell for cheap. Make sure you use Simple products or Johnsons baby range as they are made for sensitive skin. Remember don't scrub!

2) If you have a fringe/bangs keep them out of your face. This is where my skin went wrong. The oils from you hair is on your face and it is more likely you are going to break out because of the excess oil.

3) Don't pop or pick. Popping my reduce the look of the spot but it is spreading more bacteria around your face causing more break outs. The spot will also stay there longer. Leave your face alone.

4) Try not to touch your face too much. If your hand aren't clean you are spreading the dirt around you face.

5) Change your pillow case every 2-3. Don't change your whole bedspread just because you want 'perfect skin' that is only wasting water and energy. Why I say this is because when you sleep you are not wearing any makeup so your face will be oily and the oil will be transferred on to your pillow case.

6) Cut back on wearing high coverage concealers, foundations and powers. Covering your face with makeup is only adding more ingredients that cause and worsen acne. Wearing less makeup shows a good improvement in a week or so..

Acetate - My lifesaver!
7) Don't think a tan will get rid of the spot. It doesn't! Although your skins looks sunkissed the fake tan/sunbed has ingredients that aren't good for skin. Sunbed worse of all. The tan will only hide the redness. It doesn't improve the skin.

8) Go to your doctor or dermatologist and get a prescription for accutane/acetate as after 3 months of use it should clear the skin right up.

9) If you have a full fringe wash it daily as your hair oils and the oil on you hair makes you break out more so.

By the way I'm not a skin expert but I know how my skin is and what makes it visibly clearer. This may not work for everyone but it works for me. :)

Reality of being sixteen

November 24, 2014 2 Comments
Recently turning 17 I have reflected on my days as a sixteen year old.

  1. You don't have to be grown up, you're still a child. Have fun and don't waste the good times away.
  2. Sixteenth birthdays aren't that special. It's over-hyped and the reality is we cannot simply afford luxurious parties.
  3. Don't be a brand snob - Forget the labels and by affordable stuff. Everyday value and pound shops can be your best friend. Make the most of a limited amount of money. It's a life lesson.
  4. Being 16 is an eye-opener. You learn lots about the people you are surrounded by, some are good whilst meanwhile some are not.
  5. Exams aren't that important. Don't bust a gut revising for exams take it slow and don't stress out.
  6. You will have bad days but don't dwell on them. Take bad experience and make it benefit you.
  7. Looking perfect doesn't have to be your priority. Going out without make-up or having your hair styled to perfection is the least of anyone's problems. If you feel like a potato, remember to be kawaii.

Blogger Vs Wordpress

November 21, 2014 3 Comments
Hi there!
Today I will be discussing my likes and dislikes of Wordpress and Blogger. Each site is didn't for others. As an user to both of the sites I will enlighten you on positives, grievances and what would further improve the platforms.

Blogger
Pros:

  • Easily customisable pre-made themes. No need to mess with HTML.
  • Reliable as it's a Google service.
  • 100% free unless using 3rd party blog themes and customisations.
  • Ad-free unless you are using AdSense in which you allow.
  • Straightforward to use change domain to your own pre-paid.
  • Posts appear on Google search engines.
  • Basic overview of traffic and demographic information.
  • Mobile compatibility.
  • Easy to design, drop and drag to make changes.
  • A range of simple gadgets.
Cons:
  • You don't own your blog since you abide by Google's terms and conditions. They have every right to remove your blog if it breaches the contract.
  • Limited range of free themes.
  • Limited storage.
WordPress
Pros:
  • A professional and 'serious' blogger appearance.
  • The responsibility for your blog as a whole.
  • Large range of free themes.
  • A range of WordPress theme designers.
Cons:
  • WordPress will display ads on your page if you are a free user.
  • Background knowledge of HTML and CSS <-- li="" nerdy="" talk.="" techy="">
As a relatively new user to WordPress I have found that is completely alien to me being very technical. I have found blogger more user-friendly but that is clearly biased. I would recommend blogger as a service purely for casual and non business use unlike WordPress which is ideal for companies and individuals who can afford the keep and want a professional image.

Pressure Perfect

October 08, 2014 4 Comments
I guess I'm thankful that I was never pushed to strive to achieve things I was uninterested by. If I did I think I'd be resentful for the high expectations put on my shoulders like a burden. I've watched friends being pushed around by these expectations of being athletic and academic. You don't need A*'s to be successful in life but it is a nice little thing to put on your CV. At the end of the day everyone has a talent and it doesn't have to be educational or sport orientated. Sometimes vocational activities are what you do best.

I find if you study A-levels you get pushed down the university route because high education is what sixth form colleges expect but don't feel that it has to be in your future. You might find enjoyment in other areas such as higher apprenticeships or full-time employment. Happiness is key to future success!

Pushy parents are putting too much pressure on their children to do incredibly well. Aiming high is always good but who would rather have child who was good at everything yet unhappy with the flow of things.

"In order to succeed you must be happy otherwise you'll live years in doubt." - A little quote by Molly how lovely?

Reflective Sunday // First week of Sixth Form

September 14, 2014 1 Comments
On Monday I started my first day of Sixth Form. I am now officially a year 12. The change from secondary education was different but a good different. We were treat like adults, we were trusted and everyone was lovely and sociable. I made friends with many people boys and girls of different backgrounds and new stories.

Bantz! I'm awks.
I couldn't tell you what any of friends are called. For starters I'm awful at remembering names. Basically, Hi I'm Dory!

I am only taking three subjects up this year for AS which are Sociology, Media Studies and Applied Business as it won't put too much stress on me when it comes to exam season, eeek!

When I first thought about sixth form I was like "OMG, it's going to be heavy on workload". It's not. It's at an advanced level but it isn't life consuming. We still have time to chill and have a little bit off banter in the common room in our frees. Makeovers, waxing and selfies! Hello!

The environment is so amazing! Everyone acts like adults so there's no bitchiness which is heavenly and basically is an escape from the rubbish of secondary.

It's all about blogging // Lifestyle, Followers and Post Inspiration

How do I have a successful lifestyle blog?

Source
First things first, in your first year of blogging don't try to categorise your blog. When starting a blog write about a range of posts and see which ones you find most interesting. Don't fall into the trap of writing what you think people want to see. You won't be inspired and won't make time for your blog. If you already know that your blog is defined as a lifestyle blog remember that a lifestyle blog follows different conventions to other blogs out there. Your lifestyle blog is very 'you' orientated. You write for you, what you like, what you hate, generally whatever floats your goat. In order to be a successful lifestyle blogger you need to post consistently. Create a blogging day perhaps. Stay consistent so your readers can keep up to date. Also, jump onto the social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin', Instagram, YouYube and what not and post your links even if you think you look like you're trying too hard.

How do I get a bigger following?
For the last year I only had one follower. That was until this year and now I'm almost at thirty and growing which is pretty incredible. Not drastic but still incredible. I owe this down to the big bloggers/vloggers such as Zoella. Comment on their posts and follow others using the link the writer has shared. You'll gain followers pretty quick. Saying this, leave your blog URL in every comment. As I said previously jump online and take social media by the storm. Remember it's okay not to have a big follower base, as long as you are happing and enjoying your blogging experience it doesn't matter if you have 5 or 82 followers.(5 or 82 - Hannah Montana reference, no okay).

How should I write for my blog?

As I said blogging is about writing about what interests you.
In case you have writer's block, here is some inspiration.
Think about writing as a magazine, what content are you into?

- Lookbook
- Outfit of the day
- Face of the day
- Nails of the day
- TAG's such as TMI, This or That, etc.
- Rants
- Wishlists
- Day in the life
- DIY's and Recipes
- Top 5 beauty products
- What's in the media, opinions?
- Week in photos
- What I ate
- Steal their style
- Share your life
- What I'm listening to
- What I'm loving
- Advice
- FAQ's
- Throwbacks
- Product review
- Updates
- Lists ~ based on interests and beliefs
- Life hacks
- Hauls
- Reflections
- What's on trend
& Many more.
